Thanks to funding from the PTO, our fifth grade annually participates in the
Dancing Classrooms program.
After the cancellation of the program last year due to Covid-19, we were so pleased to welcome it back in 2021-22, with a few modifications. All dancers wore face masks and, in an effort to avoid touching one another, connected with partners by way of braided felt ropes.
St. Stephen held this session's culminating event on Jan. 21, 2021, when the dancers' families were invited to see what they had learned over the course of three months from Dancing Classrooms instructor Jim Kimker. They learned a lot! Yes, they learned the merengue, waltz, tango, swing, and more, but also courtesy, respect, and appreciation for an artful expression unfamiliar to most of them until now.
