Boy Scout Troop 179 is open to boys aged 11-17.

The mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.

The troop meets regularly every Tuesday evening from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the IHM cafeteria. There is at least one outing every month. The troop camps multiple times a year, takes annual trips around the country, and participates in high-adventure camps frequently. Through all these activities the youth learn about the world around them and their part in it. They learn leadership, cooperation, a respect for their fellow man, and a love of the outdoors and adventure.
