Altar servers assist the priest during Mass. Altar servers light the sanctuary candles, carry the cross, hold the book for the priest celebrant when he is not at the altar, assist the priest with the preparation of the altar during offertory, wash the hands of the priest, and assist the priest and deacon in other ways. Altar servers at St. Stephen are in the fourth grade or older, including adults.

ALTAR SERVER GUIDELINES

As ministers are scheduled, they are entered into our Signup Genius, which will (if we have an email address) generate a reminder a few days before a scheduled ministry. This Signup Genius is not so much a "signup" as it is a reference for ministers and for parish staff. Please do not try to actually sign up for anything unless you've spoken with the coordinator.

If a minister cannot serve at their scheduled time, they are asked to find a substitute from the contact list provided to them by the coordinator of that ministry. PLEASE NOTE: The Signup Genius does not reflect our full schedule of Masses. Many of our weekday 6 a.m. and 8 a.m. Masses are served by the same ministers each week or on an ad hoc basis so they are not included in this schedule.
