Saints Mary and Joseph Chapel at Saint Stephen Protomartyr Parish
The Saints Mary and Joseph Chapel is located within the boundaries of Saint Stephen Protomartyr parish, which roughly include the Holly Hills and Carondelet neighborhoods on the south side of the city of St. Louis, Missouri. Saints Mary and Joseph parish was folded into the Saint Stephen Protomartyr parish in June of 2005 as a result of parish mergers in the south city and north county areas of St. Louis. The Saints Mary and Joseph church building was transformed into the Saints Mary and Joseph Chapel.

The Saints Mary and Joseph Chapel has a long and fascinating history, reaching back to the earliest days of the city of St. Louis, even before the recognition of Missouri as a state in the union. Captured here is some information about the history of the Saints Mary and Joseph parish and Chapel.

The majority of this historical information was gathered and written by Reverend Monsignor Fenton Runge, who served as an Associate Pastor at Saints Mary and Joseph church for over 10 years.
