St. Stephen Protomartyr is a vibrant Catholic parish
community in South St. Louis City. The parish was started
in 1926 and now has approximately 750 households from
both the Carondelet and Holly
Hills neighborhoods. As a parish we have made a commitment,
as our Mission Statement notes, to “be witnesses of God’s
love and to be a faith-filled, reconciling parish.”
We are blessed with many activities and organizations,
all designed to enhance our relationship with our God.
For adults, the parish offers a number of different
opportunities for you to grow in your faith through
participation in liturgy, retreats, prayer and adult
education programs. Parishioners both socialize and
work with each other in ways that benefit the parish
itself and/or our neighborhood, our city, and the metropolitan
area. Our South Grand Seniors Ministry offers a holistic
ministry by and for seniors.
For children, we have a K-8 grade school, with an
option for an all-day kindergarten. We also offer both
a Before School and an After School program for those
who need this service. On Sundays during the 10:30
a.m. liturgy, a nursery is available for children ages
one to three. During the school year, a separate Liturgy
of the Word for Children (ages three to seven) is celebrated
in the Parish Hall. Children who do not attend our
Parish School receive their religious education through
the Southside Regional PSR, located at St. John the
Baptist Parish. Our Athletic Association sponsors numerous
sports teams for our children. We also have an active
scouting program for both girls and boys in grade and
high school.
